HEATHER MOORE, PRINCIPAL & HEAD DESIGNER
“Good design transcends time and fashion,” says Moore Design Founder Heather Moore. “One must look beyond the dazzle of the moment, see the big picture, and seek out the timeless. A thorough grasp of history is essential in our profession.”
Heather’s diverse background encompasses both residential and corporate design. A graduate of the Parsons School of Design in New York, she has years of experience with some of the most prestigious design firms in the city. With a keen interest in furniture, Heather's career actually began while at Parsons, when she worked for Tout Le Monde selling antiques and what is now referred to as ‘vintage’.
Heather joined residential partner services at Mancini Duffy in the 1990s, where her first design project was the interior design of A-level editorial and publishing offices at Conde Nast’s Times Square headquarters’; ensuing projects included Black Rock, CIBC World Headquarters, Lincoln Financial, Time Warner, and Wasserstein Perella. She then became Design Director at Campion Platt, where her unique specialty was focused on modern architecture and design for Manhattan luxury apartments, Hamptons beach houses, and upstate New York country residences. Heather was next Senior Designer at the now former Jed Johnson Associates, where her decade-long tenure was widely heralded as aesthetically influential and groundbreaking, working directly with some of the most prominent individuals in both the public eye and private sector on their New York City apartments and Hamptons homes. She has also worked with some of the most important architects in the industry including Gil Schafer of Gill Schafer Architects, Christopher Pagliaro of Pagliaro Bartels Sajda, and Ralph Mackin Architects.
In January 2017 she opened her eponymous firm which specializes in high-end residential design. Recent projects include the residential renovation of a barn into an industrial loft residence in Greenwich, Connecticut; the mid-century design and installation of an apartment in the West Village’s Greenwich Lane with an eco-friendly terrace underway for spring 2018; the design and installation of an East Hampton screen porch; and lobbies and hallways interior design for a prominent Manhattan real estate organization.
Her interiors are consistently comfortable, restrained, and sophisticated, and her practical nature, determined approach, and exceptional project management skills assure continuity throughout the client-designer collaborative process. Respect for artisans and their work, dedication to quality, knowledge of antiques and period furnishings, along with close attention to architectural details and an innate sense of style make Heather one of the most important designers on the scene.
Additionally, her love of global travel and exploring new places, their culture and of course, art and design, is a constant source of inspiration for her design aesthetic. “My approach is all about serene, luxurious interiors,” she states, “which is the standard for every project I undertake. Heather's consistent approach is all about a collaborative relationship with her clients, so they are completely comfortable in their homes."
